In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor spoke about how he felt after the ovation he received at the BAFTA Awards and what it represents for him.

“It's still really amazing,” he said of the ceremony he held in February. “I love it and appreciate it, but I take it more as a recognition of the determination and resolve to solve the big problem, and that we all have the power to do whatever we can to move things forward,” he added .

“I think people just say, 'Thank you for hanging in there and going after this.' And I appreciate it,” he said.

Michael J. Fox believes that his battle against Parkinson's serves as a beacon and symbol of optimism. “That's what people responded to at the BAFTAs,” he said.

“The problem is that people really want to believe that we can do things and I think they see me as someone who is doing that,” he added.

In February, the Back to the Future actor made a special appearance at the 77th BAFTA Awards to present the Best Film winner during the ceremony held at the Royal Festival London Hall. Fox took the stage in a wheelchair and received a standing ovation.

The actor named the five films that were competing in the Best Picture category and before mentioning the winner, Oppenheimer, he said that they had something in common: “They are the best we do. No matter who you are or where you come from, these films bring us together. There's a reason they say movies are magic. Because a movie can change your day and it can even change your life.”

What is living with Parkinson's like for him?

About his illness, Fox said he doesn't see it the way others do. “After 35 years or something since I was diagnosed, this is just my life and I don't think about it much,” he said.

The actor said that he only thinks about what to do to find a cure for the future. “I don't even think about (that). Except I'm thinking about what we're going to do as a community to solve this and find a cure, and in the absence of a cure, (create) treatment centers that are really innovative," he said.

Fox assured that When he thinks about looking for a cure, he doesn't do it thinking about himself, but for others.“And necessarily I'm trying to figure it out for me, I'm figuring it out for everyone. But it is what it is,” she indicated.

Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991 and, for seven years, tried to hide the progression of his disease. However, once he made it public, the actor decided to dedicate his life to searching for a cure through his performance, which bears his name, with which he has raised $1.5 billion for research.
