Ronna McDaniel revealed that the Republican Committee panel voted for the debate to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in order to coincide with the RCN's summer meetings; It is still unknown what day in August the debate will be held

National party chair Ronna McDaniel announced in a letter that the first Republican presidential primary debate of the 2024 campaign will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

McDaniel reported that the Republican National Committee (RCN) panel handling the debates voted and concluded that the debate should be held in August , which coincides with the RCN's summer meetings, also because Milwaukee is also the site of the Republican National Convention next year in 2024.

So far no other debates have been scheduled and the final criteria for the participants have not been decided.

“At this moment no other debates have been agreed upon, nor has the final criteria for the first debate been decided. The Committee will continue to post updates as they become available ,” McDaniel said.

The announcement of the first debate comes as only two Republicans have announced their candidacies, former President Donald Trump and former South Carolina governor and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley , but new names are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Former Vice President Mike Pence , as well as former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo , Senator Tim Scott , and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis , are also expected to uncover their presidential intentions and join the debate.

McDaniel also noted that “we have a long way to go, but I am confident that we will be able to showcase our eventual candidate in a world-class manner.”
