Jane Birkin, English singer and actress with a career spanning more than five decades, passed away today at the age of 76. The news of her was released by the French Ministry of Culture, through Roselyne Bachelot.

Thereafter Jane made France her home and began an extensive career in film and music (she parted ways with Gainsbourg in 1980, but they continued to work on songs). The artist was also recognized by critics for her work on tapes such as 'Death on the Nile' and “Devil under the sun”.

Jane Birkin was found dead in her Paris home; Until now, the cause of her death has not been released. The singer had three daughters: Kate Barry (died 2013), Lou Doillon, and Charlotte Gainsbourg, the latter a renowned actress and singer.
