Emma Tetewsky, 31, was trapped in a swamp at Borderland State Park in Massachusetts for at least three days.

Police say a Massachusetts woman missing since last week was found alive by hikers after being trapped in mud for several days at Borderland State Park.

Emma Tetewsky, 31, was located Monday night after hikers called 911 and said they heard a woman scream for help in a swamp-like area, the Stoughton Police Department said.

Tetewsky, who was reported missing on June 26, is believed to have been there for at least three days.

Authorities said the hikers were unable to reach Tetewsky on foot, so they notified the Easton police.

Officers used all-terrain vehicles to reach her and then hauled her back to land, according to Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara.

Easton Police Chief Keith Boone praised the department's officers “who blindly jumped into the water and followed the woman's calls for help.”

“Your immediate action resulted in in saving Emma Tetewsky,” Boone said in a statement reported by the News.

Tetewsky was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to recover.
