Rosalia revealed a new detail about Lux: why she chose to dress as a nun for the cover of her new album, which is released this Friday.

In an interview with the Associated Press, the Spanish singer explained that she chose to wear a nun's habit because it represents a spiritual quest and a new stage in her musical career. Also because she feels she shares her commitment, in her case with music.

“In the end, in an era that doesn't seem to be the era of faith, or certainty, or truth, perhaps faith, or certainty, or truth is more necessary than ever,” Rosalia told AP.

This explanation comes shortly after Rosalia revealed that Lux is inspired by holy women.

“I'm very interested in feminine mysticism. The album is inspired by holy women from around the world,” she stated in a recent meeting with the Mexican press.

Lux is a deeply immersive and conceptual project, structured in four movements that include a total of 18 songs in its physical version and 15 in the digital version.

The album's sound is characterized by an orchestral palette, fusing elements of pop, opera, and classical music, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Bjarnason.

The album, on which Rosalia serves as executive producer, will feature songs performed in thirteen languages, including Spanish, Latin, Sicilian, Arabic, Ukrainian, German, English, and Japanese.

Lux includes collaborations with iconic artists such as Bjork, Yves Tumor, Silvia Perez Cruz, Carminho, Estrella Morente, and Yahritza, as well as classical choirs like the Escolania de Montserrat and the Cor Cambra del Palau de la Musica Catalana.

Lux comes more than three years after her successful album Motomami (2022).
